The Tower that Jayden Built

mjm_birdseye-tower_squareSo, art, creativity, and building skills run in our family and our youngest member is no exception.

Ever since he first started playing with blocks, his towers have always been tall, complex, and wonderfully symmetrical.

Here’s a birdseye view of one of his recent creations. Our little four-year-old was quite proud of himself!

It spanned the entire table top and included a train depot and room for his Little People guys to park their Batmobile.

Inspired by Fields of Tulips

amm_tulip-field_squareOne of the many wonderful things about living in the Pacific Northwest is the abundance of fun and beautiful places to visit. One of our springtime favorites: The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

The row upon row of tulips in the fields bloom in an impressive array of styles and colors. And, if you’re lucky, the drizzly rain will stop, the sky will be blue, and the mountains will peek out of the clouds!

Of course, we must always bring home a few of the prettiest cut tulips to help brighten the house.

Building Fun at Lego KidsFest

bam_legofest_squareHere at Darcy Place Studio we are HUGE Lego fans…I mean HUGE fans going way back!

So where would be a natural place to find us on a cool autumn weekend? Why, Lego KidsFest in Portland, OR, of course!

We played, we watched, we built, we had a wonderful time!

One of our favorite parts:  the giant USA map made of Lego creations from attendees. Darren’s oldest son designed and created a great red cardinal to go in the Virginia section to honor our family who live there. Not surprisingly, the Pacific Northwest section of the map was filling up quickly!
